CHANCERY STONE

Chancery Stone, author of the controversial cult DANNY QUADRILOGY, is available to speak to reading groups, libraries, literary festivals, women's groups or festivals.

A full-time writer since 1984 she now publishes a regular web log at http://danny.blogspirit.com, as well as working on the three remaining volumes of DANNY.

Chancery is happy to talk about any aspect of writing/ publishing and offers three broad topic headings for individual selection:-

WRITING A NOVEL
- This is a general talk on the mechanics of writing a novel, from the author's viewpoint, and can be tailored according to the experience level of the audience.

WOMEN TALKING DIRTY
- Always producing interesting discussion, this covers everything from the mechanics of writing a sex scene to the stigma of 'bad language' and the inherent gender issues in art and literature.

THE MAN IN THE DIRTY MAC EXPOSED
- Another topic that always produces lively discussion and, occasionally, heated debate. Covers everything from writing about child abuse to how current attitudes to paedophilia have produced censorship issues.

QUICK BIOGRAPHY

Chancery Stone was born in the Scottish new town of East Kilbride.

The child of card-carrying Communists, she grew up in a strongly patriarchal working class family with middle class aspirations, where equality was fine as long as the man's dinner was on the table and everybody did exactly what he said. Surrounded by aunts dominated by bullying husbands and watching both her mother and grandmother preserve family secrets at great personal cost to all involved, she became interested in the toxic effects of the 'traditional nuclear family' currently lauded as a vanishing role model for modern times.

Violently anti-censorship, which she sees as merely the logical conclusion of silencing the powerless, she wrote DANNY to expose the lies and deceits of family life and the self-serving fallacy of 'protecting the children'.

Chancery Stone is exceptionally good-looking, gifted and talented and just wishes the rest of the world would catch up with her.
